Empowering Sustainable Construction: Meet Julia Álvarez del Cuadro, Sustainability and LCA Analyst at URSA
At URSA, sustainable construction is not just a goal — it's the foundation of our innovation and growth. Welcoming young professionals who are passionate about sustainability is essential to our future. Today, we are excited to introduce Julia Álvarez del Cuadro, our new Sustainability and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Analyst, based at URSA's headquarters in Madrid.
Julia's journey into sustainable development started during her studies in Industrial Engineering in Asturias, northern Spain. Recognizing the urgent need for environmentally friendly solutions, she pursued a Master's degree in Circular Economy, specializing in sustainable construction products. Her professional career includes nearly two years in consultancy, where she developed expertise in Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) and environmental impact assessments.

"I like to say that sustainability chose me before I even realized it," Julia shares. "Now, I’m proud to help strengthen URSA’s commitment to sustainability through life cycle thinking and technical expertise."
In her role at URSA, Julia contributes to sustainable building projects across Europe, providing support for LCA requests, environmental product declarations (EPDs), and sustainable construction certifications. Her work strengthens URSA’s mission of building efficiently, responsibly, and aligned with today's environmental challenges.
Since joining URSA, Julia has felt warmly welcomed by colleagues across different Business Units. She is already collaborating on key projects that aim to advance sustainability performance within the construction sector.

Outside of work, Julia is an active and creative individual who enjoys reading, digital and analog photography, exercising, and exploring new activities like surfing and crochet. Her passion for lifelong learning and personal growth perfectly complements URSA's culture of innovation.
Julia’s enthusiasm, technical expertise, and international mindset make her a valuable asset to our sustainability initiatives. We are thrilled to have her on board as we continue to promote sustainable construction practices across Europe and beyond.

Getting to Know Julia
Why did you choose sustainability as your professional path?
There isn't just one reason; in fact, I like to say that sustainability chose me before I even realized it. After studying Industrial Engineering in Asturias, I decided to move to Madrid to pursue a Master's degree in Circular Economy, specializing in construction products. Following that, I spent nearly two years in consultancy, focusing on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), before joining URSA.
Can you tell us about the projects you will be working on for URSA?
I will be supporting all requests related to Life Cycle Assessment and contributing to new sustainability development projects.
You recently joined URSA. What are your first impressions?
I feel very good, both personally and professionally. I received a very warm welcome from Silvia Herranz, Head of Technical and Sustainability, and from the entire URSA team. I also had the opportunity to meet colleagues from different Business Units across Europe. It was a real pleasure to meet Shadé, Aimeline, and Charlotte, and I look forward to working closely with the entire French team.
To get to know you better, could you share a hobby or passion of yours?
I'm a very active person who enjoys activities like reading, exercising, and cooking. I also love photography, both digital and analog. Since last summer, I've started surfing as a beginner, and recently, I've taken up crochet! I'm always looking for new hobbies to keep my mind and body active. I also love languages and speak French, so feel free to communicate with me in French — but please, be patient with me!
Welcome to URSA, Julia! Together, we build a greener future.
