Wine Museum in Villafranca del Penedès

The history of wine in Catalonia is closely linked to the Penedès, a region between Tarragona and Barcelona. In the heart of this region, which has been dedicated to growing vines and making wine for more than 2,700 years, lies Villafranca del Penedès.

With a very long tradition in the production of wines and cavas, the municipality is home to such prestigious wineries as Agustí Torrelló, Torres, and Segura Viudas. In addition, all scholars and wine culture enthusiasts can find there the National Centre of Wine Culture, Vinseum, a real museum full of jewels and curiosities that show the great tradition and history of wine in the region.

The Vinseum has become an essential visit for wine tourism enthusiasts, and to further promote Catalonia's wine heritage, it is currently undergoing an exhaustive remodeling and extension project with a budget of 4 million euros.

The project, from start to finish, aims to create the right conditions for the Vinseum to become one of the national reference centers for wine, a tourist attraction, and a catalyst for cultural, social, and business activities throughout the area.

And URSA is present in this great project, signing the air conditioning ducts installed by DPC Conductos and Instalaciones Ahora2005. With more than 2,300 square meters of URSA AIR Zero P8858 ducts, its technical manager, Juan Pascual, explains why they have chosen this brand for such an emblematic project: "URSA's materials are of increasingly high quality, but the company also provides us with a service of advice, support, and collaboration that has made us trust them for years".

For Juan Pascual, "ducts made with URSA AIR panels also ensure that the project does not become more expensive, that they are highly insulated, and that they comply with all the regulations established by RITE. In addition, they offer a high degree of acoustic insulation, which is fundamental in a project of these characteristics", he assures.

With URSA AIR, DPC conduits have collaborated in emblematic projects such as the Escola Massana, the offices of the Sagrera UTE, the Mapfre Tower, and several hospitals, achieving savings and comfort. The thermal conductivity of the URSA AIR range of ducts is 0.032 W/m-K, guaranteeing their efficiency and sustainability.

The extension works have been delayed by the discovery of a large medieval cemetery with 113 skeletons and tombs dating from the second half of the 14th century, specifically, experts believe, to the devastation caused by the plague. But the promoters of this work, the Generalitat de Catalunya and the town council of Villafranca del Penedès itself are confident that the work will be completed in a few months and the Vinseum will soon be able to open its doors.

The project has included the improvement and extension of the facilities of the Royal Palace building, the demolition of the Cal Pa i les Figues building, and the construction of a new three-storey building for exhibitions, with additional spaces for preparation and support tasks for the activities, all of which are air-conditioned thanks to URSA AIR ducts.
